“Children are a gift of the Lord” ~ Psalm 127:3

Baby Dedication
Baby dedication is when a father and mother dedicate their lives to raising their children according to the Lord. They will teach their children the Bible, raise them in the church, and teach them how to live a godly life. Baby dedication is biblical. Baby dedication is not infant baptism (christening). Infant baptism is not found in the Bible. Baby dedication is not a way of salvation for the baby.

Dedication Ceremony

  • Baby dedications are held during Sunday service or among a small gathering of people

  • It takes about 10 minutes

  • Minister will ask parents a series of questions of which they will respond, “We do”

    • Example: “Do you dedicate yourselves to raising your child in a godly home, where Christ and His Church are honored?” — “We do”

  • Minister will pray over baby and parents

  • People such as godparents, grandparents, family, friends, etc. can participate in the ceremony if they are committing their lives to help raise your child in the ways of God
